Radon Mitigation In Colorado

American Radon offers the best and most trusted radon mitigation services for residential and commercial buildings in Colorado. The equipment and fans we use for radon mitigation are eco-friendly, cost-effective, and are proven trustworthy. Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is odorless and radioactive, and emits from the ground. As radon doesn’t have any color, smell, or taste the residents of an affected home are usually unaware of its occurrence. Although radon gas exists at extremely low levels outdoors, in areas where the ventilation is inadequate it can build up to dangerous levels.  Radon gas may seep through the ground and enter your home through cracks in the floor.  Exposure to high levels of radon for a long period of time puts the occupants in risk of dangerous health risks, including lung cancer.  In fact, radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking. A level of 16.0 pci/l is equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. Radon is responsible for over 21,000 deaths annually in the US, and every property in Colorado is reported to have a certain level of radon gas.  The average radon level in a Colorado home is 7.6, - almost twice the EPA recommended level of 4.0 pci/l or below. Therefore, radon testing is the only way to determine at what level your home and family is exposed to. If you have never had a radon test done in your home, it is crucial in order to protect your home and family from radon exposure.

Radon mitigation systems we install:

Sub Slab Depressurization system: This is the most common method used for radon mitigation in the home. Suction is created in the pit that is dug out below the slab in the basement.  The radon is collected in the pit and then safely removed through pvc piping to the exterior of the home.

Drain Tile Systems: These systems are very similar to a Sump Depressurization System. We tie a fan motor into the preexisting drain system to aid in venting the gas. May homes have water drainage systems installed to divert storm water away from the home. Using these systems we create a new path through which radon may effectively go out of the home with the use of a fan.

Sump Depressurization System: In homes with a sump pump/pit, water is directed to a central basin in the basement. By tapping into the basin lid or the foundation, we can increase the performance of the radon mitigation system.

Crawl Space Mitigation: Radon can enter a home by way of the crawl space. This is common in crawlspaces with exposed soil floors that don’t have a barrier that can prevent radon from entering. Radon will enter any space above or below a crawlspace. We can install a vapor barrier alone or in combination with a mitigation system to increase effectiveness.
